With the complicity of the liberal media, Democrats use identity politics and intimidation to keep blacks corralled on the Democratic Party’s economic plantation. The Democrats’ key strategy is to paint the Republican Party as a racist party, and the latest ploy is to focus on the number of black Republicans at the GOP convention. Little or no media coverage was given to the appearances and speeches of black Republicans at the GOP convention, including former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, Texas Railway Commissioner Michael Williams, Political Strategist Angela McGlowan and Renee Amoore who is president of her own company, The Amoore Group. Also omitted from press reporting were outstanding black Republicans running for public office, including Eddie Adams, Jr. from Florida’s 11th Congressional District, Barb Davis White from Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, Dr. Deborah Honeycutt from Georgia’s 13th Congressional District, and Antoine Members from Chicago’s 1st Congressional District. These are accomplished people who do not deserve to be dismissed or denigrated. Democrats talk diversity, but demean blacks as “holdouts” or “traitors” who stand up against the status quo and do not adhere to the socialist agenda of Democrats.
By ignoring the accomplishments of black Republicans—past and present—Democrats and their media allies perpetuate the false notion that the Republican Party is anti-black. In reality, the Democratic Party has hijacked the civil rights record of the Republican Party and wrongly accused Republicans of being racists. In the face of this, people have the gall to blame Republicans for there being so few blacks who identify with the Republican Party.
No mention is made by the liberal media about the fact that Democrats have been running our inner-cities for the past 40 years, and the socialist policies of the Democrats have turned those communities into economic and social wastelands. Yet, blacks continue to vote for Democrats and, incredibly, blame Republicans for the deplorable conditions in black communities created by the Democrats. To understand what Sen. Barack Obama has in mind for the rest of American, just visit any urban black community in this country, including Chicago where Obama was a “community organizer.” If Obama’s messianic message of hope and change is so powerful, why are the poor people in Chicago still poor?
The NBRA was started to recapture the rich civil rights legacy of the Republican Party and expose the racist past of the Democratic Party. One of our objectives is to demonstrate that the socialist policies of the Democrats lead to dependency on government handouts and poverty, while the free enterprise principles of the Republican Party lead to self sufficiency and prosperity. The philosophy of the Democrats is to give a man a fish so he can eat for a day, while the philosophy of the Republicans is to teach a man how to fish so he can feed himself for a lifetime. Given a choice between a far left-wing radical who promotes failed socialism—Barack Obama—and a man who embraces our free enterprise system—John McCain—I chose McCain.
